‎The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8, 2025. Soludo secured a commanding lead with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes

‎- *YPP (Paul Chukwuma)*: 37,753 votes

‎- *LP (George Moghalu)*: 10,576 votes

‎- *ADC (John Nwosu)*: 8,208 votes

‎- *PDP (Jude Ezenwafor)*: 1,401 votes


‎Soludo's victory marks his re-election, consolidating APGA's dominance in Anambra State politics. The election was largely peaceful, with observers praising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

‎Polls bin open across di 21 local govment areas of di state around 8:30am and close officially by 2:30pm.

‎Di electoral process dey start from accreditation of voters, voting, counting, collation and results declaration and all dis process dey follow themselves.


‎Di Presiding Officers go send di results from di poll to di RA Collation Officer. Di RA Collation Officer go collate and send di result to LGA Collation Officer.


‎Di LGA Collation Officer go collate di results and send to di State Returning Officer.


‎Di State Returning Officer go collate results from LGA Collation Centres, declare di result and return di winner as governor elect for di state.


‎However, bifor di state returning officer go fit declare a candidate as winner of di election, di pesin must get:


‎Di highest number of votes cast for di election; and

‎Not less dan one-quarter of all di votes cast in each of at least two-thirds of all di LGAs for di state.

‎If two or more candidates score equal number of votes wey be di highest for di election, di Returning Officer no go return any of di candidates. Inec go conduct fresh election for di candidates. (Section 69 of Electoral Act 2010 as amended).


‎If no candidate get di required spread, di Commission go within seven (7) days arrange for anoda election between di candidate wey score di highest number of votes for di election.

INEC declares Soludo winner of Anambra governorship election

‎The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Governor Chukwuma Soludo as the winner of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.


‎Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, made the declaration at the commission’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.


‎Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) secured 37,753 votes.


‎While the Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu scored 10,576 votes, John Nwosu, the candidate of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 8,208 votes.
